Advanced Gerontological Education – Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA)

The Advanced Gerontological Education is a not-for-profit social enterprise that provides a variety of educational products to complete our mission of "enhancing the care of older adults by learning together."


The Alzheimer Society offers online dementia education for anyone caring for someone with memory loss, Alzheimer's disease, or dementia. AlzEducate offers online courses, including Dementia Certificate Programs like the Online Dementia Care Training Program (ODCTP), and live webinars.

Dementia Certificate Programs with U-First!

The Dementia Certificate Program is a comprehensive educational program offered by the Alzheimer Society of Toronto for personal support workers and other frontline healthcare professionals.

The program is composed of two courses: the Dementia Care Training Program (DCTP) and the Behavioural Support Training Program (BSTP). DCTP covers general awareness of the disease and how it impacts care. BSTP allows workers and frontline staff to develop skills for dealing with responsive behaviors when working with people living with dementia.
